A Thirst for History: Amherst’s Old Spring and Rediscovered Braun Brewery
An upcoming free community event by Matt Nahorn! “A Thirst for History: Amherst’s Old Spring and Rediscovered Braun Brewery” is on Wed, Feb 21st at 7pm at Amherst Historical Society’s Sandstone Hall, 113 South Lake Street, Amherst, Ohio 44001!
What is a major reason for the location of Downtown Amherst? Amherst’s Old Spring, a deep seep spring aquifer, is located in the center of Amherst and was a major source of drinking water for many years. The surprise rediscovery of the Braun Brewery, adjacent to the Old Spring, provides a unique twist to the story. Restoration efforts by local historian Matt Nahorn, of features around the Spring, such as a stone arch, will be reviewed.
Refreshments will be provided. There is no cost to attend!
Please RSVP by February 16th to 440-988-7255 or office@amhersthistoricalsociety.org!
