A Living History Experience

Step back in time for tales of spooky (but not scary)
history in a very special setting.
 

Tours begin at 5:00 and continue at 15 minute intervals.

Tours take approximately 1 hour and the last tour begins at 8:00 pm.

Refreshments will be served after each tour.

 

Admission is $5 per person.  Children 5 and younger are free.

 

Children not admitted without an adult

the Amherst Sandstone Village.

Christmas in the Village

Come to the annual Christmas in the Village and step back in time to see how the holidays were celebrated in Amherst back in the late 1800.

Take your picture with Santa in the Grange Hall
Visit with Mrs. Claus to see her puppet and magic show held in St. George Chapel
Tour the buildings that will be open and decorated for the holidays
Caroling in St. George Chapel
Refreshments will be served.

"Letters of the Civil War"
Lynn Youngblood
Pittsfield Township Historical Society

Ms. Youngblood will present on her ancestors' family letters sent to Pittsfield, Ohio from the McRoberts and Pomeroy-Gale families who lived during and served in the American Civil War from 1861 to 1865.  She will share and discuss nineteen letters that depict the initial excitement about the War and later, the tragedies.

 

The program is free and open to the public.
All attendees will be briefed on upcoming events at the Historical Society, so you won't want to miss this information-packed evening.

St. George Chapel & Grange Hall Rental

Looking for the perfect place for an intimate wedding, reception or rehearsal dinner.  Looking for the perfect place for a special event or business meeting?  Call the Amherst Historical Society to have your event at the Amherst Sandstone Village.

We have available St. George Chapel for your wedding ceremony.  The chapel accommodates approximately 60 guests. 

The Grange Hall is the perfect place to hold a reception or party.  The hall will seat approximately 80 people.
